Pen Pattern Bird

I have always admired this stamp but have only just gotten around to using it. I'm glad I did. here are three very different ways of using this stamp.

On gloss cardstock using Pallete Hybrid inks applied with a large round soft brush. Highlights added with metallic and white gel pens.

Coloured pencil on cream cardstock. Pencil was blended with Gamsol and paper stumps.

I embossed with white detail embossing powder. I applied Aged enamels to some areas using a Versamark pen.

I used metallic gel markers for the other areas.Gold dimensional paint dots were added to the background.

Raven Skull

I know this stamp is not to everyone's taste but I loved colouring it and was very pleased with the end result. Of course it is an American Halloween inspired stamp but I often get asked if I have anything with skulls for those people who are into the Gothic lifestyle. You know......Goths! There are people out there who just like skulls too.

Christmas cards

Hi everyone.

I am getting ready to demonstrate at the Craft Alive 'Pages' show in Southport this weekend 14th -15th November 2015. I will have lots of Stampendous products on T.J's Scrapbooking stand that I will be showing people how to use. That means I have been making lots of sample cards that are mainly Christmas based. Here are some of the cards.

CRP269 Candy Canes

CRR214 Christmas Cottage

CRW153 Sugar Plum Fairy

CRP272 Wise Gifts

CRS5053 Forest Friends

CRP273 Quilted Santa

CRM326 Christmas Love

I used the pine needles from the Forest Friends set with Christmas Love stamp and the greeting on the Candy Canes card comes from SSC1147 Tis the Season Paerfectly Clear Stamp Set.

Have fun making your Christmas cards.

Doing the 'Mixed Media Thing'!

Well I don't know that I'm any good at it but here is my first mixed media project. I used Nathalie Kalbach's Cling Fiesta stamps and Jumbo Bird and Blossom stamps from Stampendous.

                                                                  NK Studio Fiesta
CRS5083 Cling Bird and Blossom set
DCS5083 Bird and Blossom Die Cut set

Feel free to comment. You won't hurt my feelings. Constructive criticism is always appreciated especially as I have never done a project like this before.

Happy crafting!

A little bit more Christmas.

I will be very busy for a while organising my workshops in Hervey Bay, getting myself ready for the October craft show and preping for my grandson Jackson's 4th birthday. I am making the Nemo themed cake and cupcakes for the day care class. Expect to see photos, lol.
I am taking the opportunity to show samples as I get them done as I could go very quiet on my blog for a while. Enjoy!

This is such a cute stamp. It took a while to colour the leaves but if you do one leaf at a time
it is easy enough to do. Cutting it out took a bit of time but not as much as the colouring. Most of you who know me understand that I am very accomplished with a craft knife, yet I can't cut with scissors at all!

I love this stamp. Very clean and simple, yet elegant. I think I will try this one again with mica powders.

Christmas is coming.

I have been trying to get some Christmas samples done with Stampendous stamps all while trying to get my workshop organised to hold all the new stock. Shuffling things around has helped but I am nearing the 'throwing all non-essentials items out' phase.

Here are some of samples done.

This card was coloured with pencil with a touch of le Plume markers. The outer areas were coloured with brown ink and a finger dauber.

Coloured pencil with glue and glitter on the wings. A touch of glitter was added to the
snowflake and adhesive rhinestones were scattered in the background.

I added some Sparkle N Puff to the snowflakes. You can still see some black ink through them. That is because I didn't use a fine enough glue pen and I didn't want them all looking like puff balls hanging down. The paper was white with silver foil holly leaves. I changed the colour with some ink to match the coloured pencils I used on the Fairy.

I used all bar one little animal that comes with this set on this card. Again, coloured pencil was used.

Gilding Flakes

I was given some gilding flakes to play with along with the glue that goes with them. Here are a couple of the results.

This first card was created with double sided sticky paper and a Dreamweaver stencil. I tried to stamp with the glue first onto the base card. The glue is very strong and didn't work particularly well with the fine line stamp that I chose. I suspect that a solid stamp design would work better. I was worried about the glue ruining my stamp if I didn't get it into soapy water straight away as well. However, the glue was perfect for adding the extra detail onto the bauble and the applying foil over it when it waas completely dry. Of course the gilding flakes would have worked just as well. The benefit to using the gilding flakes as opposed to foil through the stencil is the all the areas of the design can be filled in. No extra flock or glitter needed. As you can see, the edges of the design are nice and crisp and the gilding stands out well against the crystal glitter.

I used the vertical 'Merry Christmas' stencil for this card and black Palette brand glue pad. I could have used the clear glue pad but the gilding becomes darker with black under it. I tried using the gilding flakes glue but two things happened. First, I ruined a finger dauber and second, the glue ran under the stencil. The second was more than likely because I was trying to get the glue on in the tiny areas of the stencil with a stencil brush and I was probably a bit too enthusiastic as I didn't want the glue to dry on my brush.
I cut the poinsettia die out of thin cardstock, added the glue with my finger and then let it dry. I added the gilding flakes and they attached perfectly. The trouble was that with all the pattern in the design I couldn't see what it was very clearly so I coloured the piece with Copic markers. Perfect!

Now I think I will go and gild a lilly!

Stampendous July release stamp and die sets

These new stamp and die sets from Stampendous are great to work with. You can create so many different looks with each set that it makes the cost of them extremely affordable.

The first set is the Create Christmas set.

The tree was stamped then the pine needles were stamped using the mask
in the set to stop me from stamping outside the lines. Shading was added and the bird was stamped onto red cardstock, shaded, die cut and mounted onto the top of the tree.

This time i die cut the tree out of four different patterned papers. I taped the dies together so that I cut the four differnt papers together and then just intercganged them. This makes four trees therefore four cards very quickly. The garland, star and gift packages (which I didn't use on these cards) are all included in the sets. All the baubles were coloured with metallic gel markers. The garland itself was coloured with pencil.

The next two cards were made from The Poinsettia stamp and die sets.

This card was stamped onto red cardstock, embossed with gold detail embossing powder the cut out with the matching die set. The rest of the card was coloured with Prisma pencils
and a few red adhesive gems added for sparkle.

This card was stamped onto the card base. I used the mask that comes with the stamp set to stamp
the second poinsettia behind the first one. I used the mask again to colour the image with red ink and a finger dauber.

The next class at Craft Giraffe is on Friday the 21st August. We will be using the Poinsettia stamp set to create this card plus a stamped card (picture to come).

Happy crafting,
Julie

Card Class samples

These two cards are what is on offer for the July 17th, Craft Giraffe (Photo Continental) class. Expect to see more Christmas designs from me as the industry gears up for the Christmas Season. I am in no way encouraging the 'Christmas in July' theme that has cropped up in recent years as I personally believe there is only one Christmas and it is in December. If Australians want the whole roast dinner, hot chocolate or rum toddies kind of celebration then I think we should push for an Australian Thanksgiving. It would have to be very loosely based on the American celebration as we would not be doing the 'thank you God for a good harvest' theme that the Americans base this holiday on.

Anyway, to the cards............
