Card Class samples

These two cards are what is on offer for the July 17th, Craft Giraffe (Photo Continental) class. Expect to see more Christmas designs from me as the industry gears up for the Christmas Season. I am in no way encouraging the 'Christmas in July' theme that has cropped up in recent years as I personally believe there is only one Christmas and it is in December. If Australians want the whole roast dinner, hot chocolate or rum toddies kind of celebration then I think we should push for an Australian Thanksgiving. It would have to be very loosely based on the American celebration as we would not be doing the 'thank you God for a good harvest' theme that the Americans base this holiday on.

Anyway, to the cards............

Pen Pattern Animals

Stampendous are having a Wild Animals week so I thought I would too. Featured are the Pen Pattern animals range of stamps.

Sometimes I just want simple and uncluttered. I achieved it with this one.

This card was all about the background. It was done on gloss cardstock. It was stamped, embossed with gold embossing powder and then coloured with opaque metallic gel pens.

The frog started off being all about the background but the frog took over. I used Le Plume markers to colour him on pre coloured gloss cardstock.

Shabby Chic Butterflies

There is nothing like a craft show to get me to use products I haven't gotten around to using until I need to make sample cards. Stampendous have an embossing enamel in their Frantage collection that is to die for, especially if you like 'pretty' and shabby chic.I know it's not new to a lot of people but it is to me. Here is the sample board I made for Craft Giraffe for the Sydney show.

I used the middle sized butterfly from the Butterfly Die Cut Set as I did for the next card.

I have done this background a few times with the Vintage Letter stamp but the butterfly was created with Stampendous Chunky Embossing Enamels. First the chipboard die cut was stamped with Versamark ink, then Chunky Black and Chunky Copper enamels were applied. Before I melted them with my heat gun I added some ordinary blue embossing powder. When they were melted and still hot, I stamped into it. I used the leaves from the Forest Pop-Up Stamp set. It's an old technique but one I personally had never tried before. I was very pleased with the result.

Using the Stampendous Pop Ups die Set.

I am getting ready to demonstrate Stampendous products at this weekends Paper Crafts Expo in Brisbane. It was high time I tried using the oval and rectangle dies to make some jewellery pieces like Debbi Cole was demonstrating how to do at CHA earlier this year. She has a video on the Stampendous site on this technique.

 Here are my efforts.

Only after I did this one I learned you should seal the work before adding either epoxy resin or Dimensional Magic to prevent bleeding of colours.

I used the stamps from Stampendous Vintage Ladies Perfectly Clear Stamp Set. I didn't use epoxy resin I used Dimensional Magic. Not as smooth but dries a lot quicker.

I will add more samples as thy get done.
