NEWS! Blog Hop Competition

Earlier this year I promised we would do a Blog Hop Competition.

Our first one will start on January 18th and will run until 31st January. In future, the competition will run for one week, but we are allowing more time for this first one to allow more people to learn about it and enter. We will be holding one competition in the last week of each month using different products.

We will be featuring one of the newest stamps sets from the Stampendous October 2016 catalogue
and it's matching die set.

CRS5094 Sunny Vase Cling Rubber Stamp Set.

DCS5094 Sunny Vase Die Set.
YOU COULD WIN BOTH OF THESE SETS!                                                                                                                                                         Myself, Dot Leathbridge and Robyn Wood will be designing some wonderful cards with these products and will place them on our blogs for you to comment upon. You will find the links to their blogs here on my blog at the start of the competition. One comment is one entry and only one entry per blog is allowed. This competition is open to Australian residents only. The winner will be selected randomly by me.

I hope you are excited about the prospect of winning this prize which retails at over $50.00. With no card to make, or product to purchase, who wouldn't want to enter?

Happy crafting,
Julie

Newest products

Hi everyone.

I have finally returned to work creating sample cards for the new stamp and die sets. There will be more to follow but I thought I would share the ones I have done so far.

The first set I used is the Lilac and Butterflies set. The greeting is from the Birthday Assortment Perfectly Clear Stamp Set.

CRS5093 Lilac Stamp Set

DCS5093 Lilac Die Set
SSC1115 Birthday Assortment Perfectly Clear Stamp Set.

I stamped the swirl background stamp with detail white embossing powder before colouring with Palette Hybrid inks. I then stamped the agapanthus with Pearlustre Sapphire embossing powder. The greeting is also from the Clear Birthday Set. I then attached the largest butterfly from the Lilac set.

CRR284 Starry Swirls

SSC1111 Agapanthus Thank You

I like sunflowers and I also like making less work for myself so I stamped the sunflowers and leaves onto coloured cardstock and just added the shading with coloured pencil. Much quicker! I stamped the vase onto gloss cardstock and used my Palette hybrid inks for the colouring. The addition of gold metallic ink using a Gelly Roll marker adds just a touch of glitz. I wonder if my friend Donna will notice the hand 'stitching' around the border? She has been doing this to her cards for years. Well before stamp companies started coming out with their stamped versions or dies.

I hope you have been inspired by my work.

Did you miss me?

Hi everyone.

My life has been very busy and some sad things have happened since I last posted. I demonstrated at the October Stitches and Craft Show in Brisbane on the Fat Cats Card Corner stand. Then I travelled to Penrith for the same business for the same reason. At this time a dear Uncle passed away as did the brother of one of my much loved Aunties this past week. I also made an appearance at the inaugural Craft Alive Show in Logan.

With all of this travel and upset I haven't found the time to post anything so I thought I would share some cards made by my craft group. They used some of the newest stamps from the Pink Your Life range in the September Stampendous catalogue.

They had fun colouring with pencils and using some Spellbinder border dies I forgot I even owned.

Great job people!

Ornament Duo Stencil Set

This first card was created by using the two stencils together. Instead of just using glitter though, I used foils and black flock powder together before I removed the patterning stencil from the top of the Ornament stencil. I then added silver glitter over the pattern lines. After I removed the ornament stencil from the adhesive paper I used white glitter over the still sticky areas. I then cut the ornament out and mounted it onto the prepared card base.

DCP1007 Build a Wreath Die Set

I dry embossed the ornament stencil then stamped into it. I coloured the flower stamp with coloured pencils and used Palette blue ink and a soft brush to add the shading around the outside edge.
I then added clear Embossing Medium over the entire design. Opal glitter was quickly added to the design then allowed to dry. This gives a beautiful 'frosted' look to the ornament. I dry embossed around the outside of the ornament when the image was dry with a Dreamweaver background stencil.
The Christmas Greeting was just the perfect size to complete the card.

Stampendous Duo Stencil Sets

Because I have done stencilling for so many years I have been guilty of ignoring the new Stampendous stencils in favour of all the new stamps. I thought it was about time I went back to my roots to see if my creative juices around stencils had atrophied.

What do you think?

I used the bird stencil from the Snug Bird Duo Set on adhesive sheet with glitter.
The holly background was created using the holly from the Winter Tweets Stamp Set.

This time I used the bird and the dotty stencil for the scarf and the snowy background.
I also used the Spoonfuls Snow along the bottom edge. Again, the holly is from the Winter Tweets stamp set. I used the Marvy Uchida Snow Marker on the hat.

More stencilling to come! I think I missed it, lol.

We have a winner!

Congratulations Rob Keogh.

Rob won the "Pink Your Life' Blog Hop challenge run by Stampendous.

I know there wasn't much time from the announcement that Australians could enter and the closing date so I have decided to run it again but for Australians only and through this blog. It will take place in the last week of this month so keep an eye out for it.

Build a Wreath Die set

Stampendous are currently highlighting the new Build a Wreath die set on their blog. I started using it last night and have come up with two cards using it........so far, lol. I have used in conjunction with a couple of other stamps but of course that is not necessary as the wreath looked really good before I added the cardinal but I like to give you ideas.

More from The Stampendous July Catalogue

Another busy day play...... er, working away using new products. The owl is large for a card but still perfectly acceptable. I can just imagine him on a page. It's a pity I don't scrapbook.

You probably can't see the eyes very well but I used dimensional magic and his eyes glow. I used coloured pencil but the white is a Gelly Roll Marker.

CRR268 Look Into My Eyes

The next two cards were made with the Winter Tweets Stamp set and matching Die Set. I stamped the cardinal onto red cardstock. It saved a bit of time colouring it. I just added a bit of shading. The holly was done on white cardstock and then coloured with Hybrid ink and a soft brush. I did get some on the berries but that provided shading for the red coloured pencil I used on them.

CRS5092 Winter Tweets Stamp Set, DCS5092 Winter Tweets Die Set. I also used SSC1147 Tis the Season Perfectly Clear Stamp Set (see below)

CRR144 Christmas Background Stamp

Wonderous Kitten again but this time I used a new background stamp.

CRR278 Holly Background

Patient Pup again. I am trying very hard to get a hold of the Marvy Uchida Snow Marker as you can see how brilliant it is for Santa hats.

SSC1231 Holiday Expressions Perfectly Clear Stamp Set.
I feel as though I have only just started with the new releases from Stampendous. Obviously there is lots more to come.

Julie
