Guest Designers

Hi everyone.

Today I want to share with you a few card designs done by Terry and Glenda who are class members of mine but also great cardmaking teachers in their own right. All the stamps used are in the Stampendous range.

The first two cards were made by Terry. He chose to make a double Z card with the new Laurel Burch Mermaid set.

LBCRS03 Mermaid Fish

This second card is a beautiful Diorama card featuring the new Pink Your Life Pirates Clear Stamp Set.

SSCP111 Pirates

This project isn't really a card but a beautiful box made by Glenda. She incorporated stamps from the Pink Your Whisper Fly Clear Stamp Set as well as the new Happy Birds Clear Stamp Set.

SSCP106 Whisper Fly

SSC1255 Happy Birds
This last project is mine. I melted embossing powder in and around the jar to create an ocean backdrop ( lots of different Embossing Enamels and powders) and sandy ocean floor (Golden Sand embossing powder). I used brown paper clay in the bottom of the jar to create a rock. All the shells were coloured and then placed in the jar. To get then to stay upright and not move around I glued each piece to piece of bamboo skewer. The fish are hanging from the lid on thin slivers of acetate. The shells on the lid were made from paper clay and then coloured by using Pearlustre Embossing Powders over them when they were dry. Thanks Glenda for the inspiration and help with some technical details.

Honeycomb Perfectly Clear Stamp Set

Okay, I am officially nuts.
I stamped the honeycomb, then the bees over the honeycomb. I then stamped the bees onto a separate piece of card and vellum. I coloured the honeycomb and the bee bodies on both the card and the separate piece. I taped around the outside of the card and coloured the background with some brown Palette ink. I removed the tape and have an instant mat. The crazy part comes next. I cut out the vellum wings and then the bee bodies. The wings and bodies were glued together and then mounted over the bees on the card front with foam squares. The sentiment is part of the set. Talk about fiddly but the end result was worth it.

Another Laurel Burch stamp.

This card is a little softer in colour than the typical colours by this designer but I think they work well together. I used coloured pencils for the image and Palette hybrid inks for the background.

April Blog Hop Competition

Hi everyone.

Sorry this is a little late getting posted but I have had an interesting couple of weeks. I was laid up with a bung hip for about 5 days but it got better in time for me to travel down to Port Macquarie this past weekend to teach a series of classes held at Alice in Paperlands store. I had a great time and I hope everyone who attended has good a time as I did. Thank you to those ladies who travelled from Sydney for the weekend. Thank you to Alice for inviting me down and being such a gracious host.

Now for the Blog Hop. The stamp is a new from the April release catalogue.

CRP302 Stylized Whale

Here are my contributions.

I added ink to gloss cardstock with soft brushes and Palette Hybrid inks. I used a strip of paper to create sunlight rays coming from above the whale. I used Stampendous embossing powder Golden Sand EP211 for the ocean floor and Midnight Black EP111 embossing powder for the sentiment. The sentiment is from Stampendous SSC1246 Ocean Wisdom Perfectly Clear Stamp Set. I made the shells with ultra light paper clay and a silicone mold. I coloured the whale on with Chameleon pens on white cardstock then cut out and mounted onto the card with dimensional foam squares.

I coloured this whale with coloured pencils and highlighted a few areas with metallic gel pens. You can't see the metallic gel pen colours on this one but in real life it is very pretty. I used the same Palette inks around the whale that I used on the first card.

Leave a comment to enter the competition to win the stamp. Leave a comment of one of our designers blog to get another chance to win. Please remember that only one comment per blog will count. This competition is open to Australian residents only. Please let us know from where in Australia you hail from in you comments.

Happy crafting and good luck!

Julie.
Here is another photo of the above card. You can see the shiny bits a bit better in this one.

March Blog Hop Competition

It is that time again.

Blog Hop Competition time!

The prize for this month is a stamp from the Laurel Burch Collection.

LBCP001Flutterbye

The competition finishes at 12am Friday night.

To enter, place a comment on one of our designers blogs. No need to make or buy anything. One comment equals one entry but only one entry per blog allowed.
This is an ongoing monthly competition and open to Australian residents only. It would be helpful if in your comment you mention the name of city or town where you live.

Here are my inspiration pieces using the Flutterbye stamp.

I used one of the borders in the Elegant Borders Clear Stamp Set for the background. The butterfly was stamped with black Versafine ink then I used a Versamark pen to add clear ink to each section before heat embossing with different Vintage Tinsel embossing powders. All are Stampendous products of course. The sentiment is also from a clear stamp set. (see below)

SSC1122 Elegant Borders.

SSC1158 Thoughtful Messages

The butterfly was stamped and heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder. It was then painted with pearlescent watercolour paints. I created the background with blue mica powder over clear embossing ink. I used Vintage Blue embossing powders in the corners and dots of metallic blue gel markers were added randomly to the background. Very pretty in real life.

Please take the time to look at our designers inspiration pieces using this stamp.

Laurel Burch designs.

These stamps are selling so well I am flat out keeping them in stock. I must admit I wondered how they would be received into the Australian market as they are so different to any of the other stamp ranges available from Stampendous. I needn't have worried......at all!

Here are some inspiration pieces.

Happy crafting,
Julie

Happy birds.

I love this new Happy Birds stamp set. I took my inspiration for this card from Donna Lane, who is my American sister by another mother, as well as part of our design team for our blog hop competition.

SSC1255 Happy Birds Clear Stamp Set

I coloured all the images with my Chameleon Markers. I just need more colours!

Happy crafting (and don't forget the blog hop competition next week!)
